On the 3rd of September 2026 uMngeni-uThukela Water (UUW) attended the 2026 SAICE National Awards in Johannesburg, where we celebrated excellence and innovation within the engineering and water sector.
We are proud to announce that our Lower uMkhomazi Bulk Water Supply Scheme (Goodenough Abstraction Works), one of our Capex Projects, was awarded the Technical Excellence: Civil Project of the Year award.
Representing uMngeni-uThukela Water at the awards ceremony were our Board Member, Ms Diana Hoorzuk, Chief Operating Officer, Mr Sanele Mazibuko, Executive: Infrastructure Development, Mr Nkosi Cele, and Project Manager, Ms Gugulethu Nkomo.
The awards ceremony was an uplifting and inspiring occasion, providing an opportunity to honour the outstanding contributions and achievements of professionals who continue to shape and strengthen the water and engineering sectors. This recognition is a testament to the expertise and commitment of everyone involved in advancing sustainable water infrastructure.
