Residents and businesses in Richards Bay are advised that water supply to the area has been reduced to approximately 50% of normal demand following a pump failure at the Nsezi Water Treatment Plant.
As a result, customers across the Richards Bay distribution network may experience low water pressure and intermittent water supply until the fault has been repaired and normal operations restored.
Technical teams are working continuously to address the issue and restore full water supply as quickly as possible.
The necessary pump spares are expected to be delivered on Saturday morning, with the restoration of full water supply anticipated by Saturday evening, subject to successful completion of repairs.
In parallel, the electrical team is currently removing the faulty 11 kV cable at the plant. A replacement cable is expected to arrive on site on Friday afternoon, after which installation and testing will commence.
Residents and consumers are urged to use water responsibly and only for essential purposes during this period to help maintain supply across the network.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank all customers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation while these critical repairs are being undertaken.
We urge the public to use water sparingly and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
