Durban Heights Waterworks which supplies bulk treated water to major parts of the eThekwini Metro Municipality has a leak on one of its two pipelines to its Pinetown Areas today the 7th July. The plant is still able to supply these areas but with a reduced supply through a dual pipeline in this period until that 2nd line is repaired and commissioned again.
The pipeline was isolated at Ethekwini’s receiving reservoir and then drained. This process was completed during the course of this afternoon and the leak was identified and repair has initiated. The repair is expected to be completed around midnight and thereafter the pumping can resume.
Areas affected include: Pinetown, Mountain Ridge, Methven, Blair Athol, New Germany, Wyebank and Paradise Valley.
We encourage users from these affected areas to use water sparingly in this period. UUW apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected customers.
